Solar park: unlocking new revenue models

Summary

For a solar park developer, eFuelution has carried out a project to explore alternative revenue models, beyond the usual Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). Using our advanced optimization technology, including PhoeniX EMS, we have integrated new revenue streams such as electric vehicle (EV) charging, hydrogen production, and electricity trading. This maximizes the value of the solar park and opens up new business opportunities.

Challenge

The developer wanted to diversify the revenue streams of their solar farm while ensuring high energy efficiency and flexibility. Traditional PPAs were insufficient to exploit the full potential of the renewable energy generated. The challenge was to design a system that adapts to dynamic market conditions and supports new revenue models, while optimally distributing energy.

Solution

Advanced Simulations

Using advanced simulation models, we designed a system that integrates the latest energy management technologies and adapts to various operational scenarios. The solution enables the solar farm to efficiently meet multiple needs, maximizing both energy use and profitability.

  1. Technical Simulations: Our models evaluated the performance of the solar farm under various conditions, such as fluctuating weather, variable demand for EV charging, hydrogen production cycles, and price fluctuations in the electricity market. This allowed us to optimize energy flows and effectively allocate excess energy to the most beneficial applications.

  2. Financial Optimization: By analyzing different scenarios, we identified configurations that minimize operational costs and maximize revenue. This included energy storage, trading strategies, and the financial feasibility of alternative revenue streams such as hydrogen production and EV charging.

  3. Operational Planning: The system is designed to dynamically adjust energy distributions based on real-time demand and market opportunities. With predictive analytics and storage solutions, the solar park can respond flexibly to changing conditions and market demands.

Role of PhoeniX EMS

The PhoeniX EMS plays a central role in the operational phase of the solar park. The system acts as a decision-making center by evaluating real-time market conditions, energy prices, and operational constraints. This ensures that energy is smartly allocated to EV charging, hydrogen production, and electricity trading, achieving maximum efficiency and profitability.

Result

eFuelution has successfully delivered a solution that allows the solar park developer to take advantage of new business opportunities while maintaining high operational efficiency. PhoeniX EMS allows the developer to diversify revenue streams, increase financial resilience, and unlock the full potential of renewable energy.
