For a potential green gas plant in the Netherlands, we performed an extensive simulation to continuously achieve a constant and reliable electrical baseload of <strong>1 MWh<\/strong>. The result is an integrated system that makes optimal use of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, combined with energy storage.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-74b3b177 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"74b3b177\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Challenge<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-73614caa elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"73614caa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The biomethane plant requires a constant electrical baseload of <strong>1 MWh continuously<\/strong>, with an uptime of more than 99%. However, the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind presents challenges. A surplus of power is needed to meet demand during periods of low generation. In addition, the effective use of surplus energy was an important focus of the project.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2b8595 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2b8595\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Solution<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7e703e27 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7e703e27\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Advanced Simulations<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using our advanced simulation models, we designed a system that meets the technical, financial and operational requirements of a biomethane plant. The system is specifically tailored to the dynamics of renewable energy generation and the need for a constant energy supply of 1 MWh continuously.<\/p><ol><li><strong>Technical Simulations<\/strong>: We simulated the behavior of different energy sources, including solar panels, wind turbines, and batteries, taking into account weather conditions, seasonal variations, and the interaction between components. This made it possible to design a robust system that delivers the 1 MWh baseload <strong>consistently at all times<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>Financial Optimization<\/strong>: More than tens of thousands of scenarios were calculated to determine the configuration with the lowest energy cost per unit. This included investment costs, maintenance costs and income from by-products such as hydrogen and electricity trading.<\/li><li><strong>Operational Planning<\/strong>: The system was designed to be flexible and future-proof, with attention to maintenance, peak load and the use of energy storage.<\/li><\/ol><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Role of PhoeniX EMS<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The operational control of the system lies with the advanced Energy Management System PhoeniX EMS. This system makes real-time decisions about energy sources, storage and sales strategies. With forecasts for weather conditions, electricity prices and consumption profiles, PhoeniX EMS ensures that the system consistently delivers the baseload of 1 MWh continuously in the most efficient and cost-effective way.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Smart Applications of Surplus Energy<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An important aspect of the design is the effective use of surplus generated energy.
