Efuelution faces the multifaceted challenge of harnessing 600 MW of wind power to sustainably produce green hydrogen in Spain. The project’s complexity lies in ensuring consistent energy supply from inherently intermittent wind sources, requiring robust financial, operational, and technical planning to ensure viability and efficiency.
Solution
To address these challenges, Efuelution employs comprehensive simulations across three key domains:
Financial Simulations:
Advanced financial models are developed to analyze investment requirements, operational costs, revenue streams, and payback periods. These simulations take into account varying scenarios of wind energy production, market prices for hydrogen, and potential subsidies or incentives available in Spain, providing a clear picture of the project’s economic feasibility.
Operational Simulations:
Utilizing a digital twin of the proposed hydrogen production facility, operational simulations are conducted to optimize the integration of wind energy into hydrogen production. This includes scheduling electrolyzer operations to match wind power availability, assessing storage solutions for excess energy, and ensuring a continuous hydrogen production process despite the variability of wind power.
Technical Simulations:
Technical simulations delve into the design and performance of the electrolyzer systems, wind turbines, and their integration. These simulations test different configurations and technologies to identify the most efficient and reliable solutions, considering Spain’s specific wind patterns and geographical conditions.
